NH Design Collaborative, LLC

Amy has a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from the Boston Architectural College, in Boston, Massachusetts. She has also studied Architecture in Rome, Italy.
After working for several large architectural firms as well as designing homes for builders for over 21 years, Amy decided it was time to put her own stamp on design. In January of 2007 she started New Hampshire Design Collaborative, LLC. Her passion comes from frustration with the poor design, function, quality and detail of the typical houses that are being built today. The classic scale and design have been stripped away leaving big ugly boxes. Big is not better, it is the function and detail of spaces that matter. In keeping with the timeless historic charm of New England architecture, she incorporates open plans and energy efficiency with modular building and other sustainable methods.

My passion is to create “new” old homes, with the exterior look of an early American Classic home and the interior that incorporates modern technology that our society has adapted to.  It’s time to step back into houses that are truly functional with mudrooms, pantries, linen closets and places to put a vacuum, unlike the cookie-cutter houses that are being built on every corner of America.  My homes are carefully designed with true function in mind; how someone will use a space.  A house does not have to be big to be functional; it just needs to have the right planned spaces.
You will not find oversized master bedrooms and bathrooms in my plans, because I don’t believe in them.  Seriously, it always comes down to cost and square footage so wouldn’t you rather have more space in the kitchen or family room?  What do people do in these huge Master Bedroom suites anyways?
What you will find in all of my designs is an entry hall/or transition space at the front door.  Why? I don’t believe that someone should enter your house smack into the living area and bring in the rain, mud or snow directly into your house.  You will also find plenty of storage space...whether it's a coat closet, broom closet, pantry or linen closet, we all need them and I don't understand why most other plans just don't have them! Enjoy my plans, and please feel free to send me an email from the contact page.
